  • Canada’s Food Guide is available for free. Visit the website to download resources and recipes.

Food Literacy in Schools

  • BrightBites is a non-profit program that breaks school nutrition down into simple, bite-size challenges that can be earned one at a time. The website features inspiring ideas to improve the school nutrition environment and contains resources for teachers and educators.
  • FoodShare’s Teaching Teachers About Good Food are shareable, open-source guides and toolkits for classroom lessons on cooking, tasting, and growing.
  • Sustain Ontario’s Edible Education Network has been established to make it easier for people across Ontario to get children and youth eating, growing, cooking, celebrating, and learning about healthy, local and sustainably produced food.
  • Durham Region Health Department’s A Guide to School Gardens is a step by step guide to planning, implementing, maintaining and evaluating a school garden.

  • Ecosource is an Ontario-based environmental education non-profit serving youth, adults, and families. Look on the publications page for activity guides, curriculum links and more!
  • EcoSchools Canada is an environmental education and certification program for grades K-12. The program and resources are free of charge.
